He responded quickly to my request for a quote through Yelp and was very flexible about meeting me early in the morning. Marc arrived on time, and he quickly set in to walking through the house. Marc has a good eye for detail: he checked every electrical line, water lines, gas line, and air duct. He identified a few issues, including a shower pan that wasn't properly sloped. That issue alone would've cost hundreds of dollars and hours to fix. He is also meticulous; for instance, he generated his report as we walked through the house. Overall, I highly recommend FSI.

Update: in a previous review I cited how Marc didn't complete a portion of the work he had signed up for. In the end it was resolved by Marc picking up the phone and talking me through his generous proposal. He apologized for his mistake but more importantly wanted to make it right. He did just that. I'd say if you have any issues with his work or if something accidentally gets forgotten, just pick up the phone and talk it out with him. He's very focused on providing good customer service and he'll do whatever it takes to make it right.

Only reason I knocked half a star off is I think Marc can be slightly more proactive in letting homeowners know what to expect with the whole process, from what exactly he will be looking for and why to what the next steps are post inspection - especially if there are fixes to be had.

This was the first time my husband and I have bought a home, so we were in the camp of you don t know what you don t know in terms of what questions to ask. For one, I didn t realize the radon test would take a few days to do and get results back from, and while it had no effect on our purchase timeline, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time and that s something to note for those that have offers contingent on inspections or tight timelines to follow.

Marc also mentioned he s a licensed contractor, so he could use that as an opportunity to upsell his services, which he didn t with us. We were just given the report, mostly without tips on how to rectify any problem, other than a mention of whether it was a DIY fix or a professional fix. That had no bearing on my overall rating, but is simply a suggestion for him to consider adding to his business strategy. If a buyer/homeowner is trusting you to do an inspection, they will likely also trust you or your recommendation for someone else to help them with remediation.

TEN STARS!!! The home buying process is very stressful, but Marc from FSI Home Inspections really put me at ease with my purchase. I called around a few companies for different quotes and Marc was the only one that directly talked to me prior about my concerns and scheduling. Other companies either asked me to leave a voice message or led me directly to a call center. More importantly, his inspection fee was also significantly lower than all the others! He was always very responsive, especially when I had to reschedule my appointment and the FSI website also makes it very easy to schedule an appointment and pay during the pandemic.Marc was very professional and practiced social distance guidelines. You can tell he's been doing home inspections for a long time. Along the way, he would explained to me each device he was using to complete the home inspection. One of the devices included using infrared to detect moisture or leaks which was really helpful because I already had evidence of water floor damage. He really took his time to look at every inch of the condo unit and answered all our questions during the process. At the end of the day because of Marc, I was also able to locate things like gas and water shut off valves or even how to change the filter for my new HVAC system. I was shocked that I was able to get the online inspection report by the end of the night! Not only was the report very detailed and easy to read, but it included pictures and videos for each safety concerns or violations. I also liked how he included recommendations for things to look out in the future. For example, I found out that my dishwasher's tubing should've been hung higher in order to prevent back flow. As a result of his inspection, I hope I am now warrant for a home warranty on the HVAC system and other small fixes around the unit before settlement.Highly recommend Marc and FSI Home Inspections!

Marc was super responsive and scheduled a pre-offer walk-and-talk inspection of a newly renovated semi-detached row house in DC on short notice for a reasonable price. He explained everything in simple terms we understood, and he was thorough. For example he smelled gas and went right to his truck to get a meter that detected higher-than-normal levels of gas coming out of an exhaust pipe. He also pointed out little things inside the house that we wouldn't have noticed ourselves and helped us understand which parts were high quality and where they cut corners. Only reason I knocked half a star off is I think Marc can be slightly more proactive in letting homeowners know what to expect with the whole process, from what exactly he will be looking for and why to what the next steps are post inspection - especially if there are fixes to be had. This was the first time my husband and I have bought a home, so we were in the camp of you don t know what you don t know in terms of what questions to ask. For one, I didn t realize the radon test would take a few days to do and get results back from, and while it had no effect on our purchase timeline, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time and that s something to note for those that have offers contingent on inspections or tight timelines to follow. Marc also mentioned he s a licensed contractor, so he could use that as an opportunity to upsell his services, which he didn t with us. We were just given the report, mostly without tips on how to rectify any problem, other than a mention of whether it was a DIY fix or a professional fix. That had no bearing on my overall rating, but is simply a suggestion for him to consider adding to his business strategy. If a buyer/homeowner is trusting you to do an inspection, they will likely also trust you or your recommendation for someone else to help them with remediation.

Inspect a Home FSI Home Inspections arrived promptly at the scheduled appointment time, introduced himself, and explained what to expect. Marc begin his inspection and thoroughly explained what he was doing, and since I accompanied him, he further explained why he was doing it. Throughout this inspection, his experience and attention to detail, identified several items that either needed repaired or further needed attention.
