Marc was super responsive and scheduled a pre-offer walk-and-talk inspection of a newly renovated semi-detached row house in DC on short notice for a reasonable price. He explained everything in simple terms we understood, and he was thorough. For example he smelled gas and went right to his truck to get a meter that detected higher-than-normal levels of gas coming out of an exhaust pipe. He also pointed out little things inside the house that we wouldn't have noticed ourselves and helped us understand which parts were high quality and where they cut corners. FSI Home Inspections arrived before the scheduled time and were already working on the exterior portion of the inspection when I arrived. Their inspection was very thorough. And they dentified several deficiencies and provided explanation for each. After the home inspection, they provided a detailed final report which very thorough (with pictures and video) and was also color coded to help me navigate the highlights, safety concerns, general information and recommendations.Also, on short notice, they scheduled a follow up inspection to inspect all items listed in their report.Highly recommend!

Only reason I knocked half a star off is I think Marc can be slightly more proactive in letting homeowners know what to expect with the whole process, from what exactly he will be looking for and why to what the next steps are post inspection - especially if there are fixes to be had.

This was the first time my husband and I have bought a home, so we were in the camp of you don t know what you don t know in terms of what questions to ask. For one, I didn t realize the radon test would take a few days to do and get results back from, and while it had no effect on our purchase timeline, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time and that s something to note for those that have offers contingent on inspections or tight timelines to follow.

Marc also mentioned he s a licensed contractor, so he could use that as an opportunity to upsell his services, which he didn t with us. We were just given the report, mostly without tips on how to rectify any problem, other than a mention of whether it was a DIY fix or a professional fix. That had no bearing on my overall rating, but is simply a suggestion for him to consider adding to his business strategy. If a buyer/homeowner is trusting you to do an inspection, they will likely also trust you or your recommendation for someone else to help them with remediation.

TEN STARS!!! The home buying process is very stressful, but Marc from FSI Home Inspections really put me at ease with my purchase. I also liked how he included recommendations for things to look out in the future. For example, I found out that my dishwasher's tubing should've been hung higher in order to prevent back flow. He gave us a builders perspective as well about the quality of the work! He saved us from moving forward on a less than optimal home. We learned a lot so that we are now able to notice initial visual short comings in other homes we have toured. We will be using him in the coming days to hopefully inspect another prospect.

Professional and friendly

We used Marc for 3 different inspections before deciding on a home. Each time he meticulously went through the home detailing all potential issues in an understandable way. Marc is patient, knowledgeable, and a genuine nice guy. His rates are very fair. We can’t recommend him enough if you need an inspection.

Inspect a Home Would recommend. Was responsive to emails and texts and on time/early to the appointment. Also appreciate that he s a veteran. Only reason I knocked half a star off is I think Marc can be slightly more proactive in letting homeowners know what to expect with the whole process, from what exactly he will be looking for and why to what the next steps are post inspection - especially if there are fixes to be had. This was the first time my husband and I have bought a home, so we were in the camp of you don t know what you don t know in terms of what questions to ask. For one, I didn t realize the radon test would take a few days to do and get results back from, and while it had no effect on our purchase timeline, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time and that s something to note for those that have offers contingent on inspections or tight timelines to follow. Marc also mentioned he s a licensed contractor, so he could use that as an opportunity to upsell his services, which he didn t with us. We were just given the report, mostly without tips on how to rectify any problem, other than a mention of whether it was a DIY fix or a professional fix. That had no bearing on my overall rating, but is simply a suggestion for him to consider adding to his business strategy. If a buyer/homeowner is trusting you to do an inspection, they will likely also trust you or your recommendation for someone else to help them with remediation.

I am the owner of an older home in Alexandria. Marc is incredibly responsive & provides an honest perspective in his inspections. He's very experienced & detail oriented, characteristics that I've struggled to find for an older home. I cannot recommend him highly enough - he's a trustworthy pick for your next inspection.

Marc carried out a home inspection for us. He responded at a very short notice and was willing to do it over the weekend. The inspection took around 6 hours. We think that Marc was very thorough. He allowed us to join the inspection and answered all of our questions. Marc shared his very detailed report the same day. He also responded on follow-up questions. In the end it was resolved by Marc picking up the phone and talking me through his generous proposal. He apologized for his mistake but more importantly wanted to make it right. He did just that. I'd say if you have any issues with his work or if something accidentally gets forgotten, just pick up the phone and talk it out with him. He's very focused on providing good customer service and he'll do whatever it takes to make it right.
